7. What Foreign Nationals Should Confirm

For those working as Specified Skilled Worker (i) in Miyazaki Prefecture

  • The number of colleagues working in the same field is increasing in the prefecture. When considering an Application for Extension of Period of Stay or a job change, let’s reconfirm the requirements for your field (exams, councils, etc.).
  • There is a total 5-year limit on the period you can work as Specified Skilled Worker (i). Those aiming for Specified Skilled Worker (ii) should check the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) exam and Japanese language requirements for each field early. For Specified Skilled Worker (ii) Japanese language requirements, please also refer to “Specified Skilled Worker Japanese B1: Required from Application for Certificate of Eligibility in April 2027.”

  • Check procedures for each field: Depending on the field, necessary preliminary procedures differ, such as the timing of joining the council or the certification of the acceptance plan (Construction). Please also check the field-specific articles (links in §3).
  • Look ahead to transition to Specified Skilled Worker (ii): As the Period of Stay for Specified Skilled Worker (i) personnel lengthens, managing the cumulative 5 years and preparing for the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) exam become challenges.
